Coloring order
- Color the little car rolling across the floor and the big red balloon on its back first. Make the balloon one bold red shape.
- Next, color Nari's yellow shorts and green jacket as she kneels to push the car, and Toto racing alongside.
- Finish with the starting-line tape on the floor, the chalkboard, the red toolbox and the stools, and flash the speed lines in yellow.
Questions to talk about
- Which way do you think the car will go when the air rushes out of the balloon?
- What do you think Nari is shouting as she pushes the car?
- Do you remember being cheered on during a race or a game?
Take it further
Inspired by the balloon-powered car, fold or draw a small paper car. Put a tape starting line on the floor and roll your cars to see whose goes farthest.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
