- Estimated time
- 35–50 min

- Areas to color
- about 290
Coloring order
- Begin with the wide, swirling skirt: deep red on the outside and a cream apron panel down the front.
- Color the laced green bodice, the apples in the basket on her arm in red, and the little bluebird on her fingertip in sky blue.
- Finish the fruit on the tree branches, the cottage roof, the wooden fence and the small flowers in the bottom right, one at a time.
Questions to talk about
- What do you think the bluebird on her finger is saying?
- What could you make with a whole basket of apples?
- If you lived in a cottage in the woods, what would your day be like?
Take it further
Cut small red circles from paper to make apples, drop them into a paper basket, and count them together by twos.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
