Coloring order

  1. Begin with Rory's red body and the yellow around the windows, and color the long rotor blades on top silver or light yellow.
  2. Color the rescue hoist on the side and the little tail wing teal and gray, and the landing skids below in black.
  3. Use blue and white for the mountain peaks and green for the meadow below, and save the sky and clouds for last.

Questions to talk about

  • Who is Rory on its way to rescue?
  • How do you think someone feels coming down on the line Rory lowers?
  • Can you remember a time someone helped you? What did you say?

Take it further

Tie a light cloth doll to the end of a string and lower it slowly from desk height for a rescue game. Make up a story about where it lands.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
