Coloring order

  1. Start with Saturnia's turquoise body and the purple window on its face, and color the area around the red engine at the front orange and yellow.
  2. Alternate sky blue and yellow on the telescope barrel on its head, and use pink and blue for the fins on both sides.
  3. Give each band of the ringed planet at upper right its own pale yellow tone, and fill in the twinkling stars around it with yellow.

Questions to talk about

  • What would Saturnia most like to see through its telescope on the ringed planet?
  • What do you think the planet's rings are made of? Let's imagine!
  • Have you ever squinted to see something far away?

Take it further

Roll a clay ball and slip on a ring made from a paper strip taped into a loop. You've built a ringed planet. Talk about what to name it.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
