Coloring order

  1. Begin with the long ribbon that loops around Soyul and flows across the whole page, following it in one golden yellow without a break from end to end.
  2. Color the leaf-patterned leotard pink and the pointed skirt edges purple, then fill in her round hair bun and the ribbon stick in her hand.
  3. Leave the rows of seats in the stands, the round ceiling lights, the three flower boxes and the curved floor lines of the arena for the very end.

Questions to talk about

  • What sound might the ribbon make as it swirls like this?
  • How would Soyul feel if every seat in the stands were full?
  • Have you ever moved your body along to music? What song was it?

Take it further

Tape a strip of colored tape or thin paper to the end of a straw to make a ribbon stick, then draw circles, waves and spirals in the air to music. Clear plenty of space around you first.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
