Coloring order
- Color Dori's tilted yellow dump bed first, then the heap of dirt and rocks piled inside it in a few shades of brown.
- Move to the orange cab at the front: the big eyes, the wide smile and the silver bumper, one part at a time.
- Save the row of big wheels for last, with black tires and gray hubs on each one.
Questions to talk about
- Besides dirt, what else could Dori carry in that big bed?
- When does Dori tip the bed up high like this?
- Have you ever moved sand with a shovel? What was it like?
Take it further
Use a cardboard box as Dori's dump bed, fill it with crumpled paper balls, then tilt one side up and let them slide out for a dump-truck game.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
