Coloring order
- Begin with the puffy body, arms and legs of Luna the astronaut bunny's spacesuit. You can leave the paper white and add just a little pale blue for shadows.
- Color the rim of the round helmet with its two ear pockets and the side ear covers in blues, keeping the face inside the helmet light.
- Save the yellow for last: the star patch on the chest, the sparkly star clutched in her paws and the tiny stars on the gloves and boots.
Questions to talk about
- Where do you think Luna found the star she is holding?
- How might it feel to wear a helmet made for bunny ears?
- If you went to space, what one thing would you bring along?
Take it further
Draw lots of little stars with a white crayon on black paper, then cut out your colored Luna and glue her on so she floats among the stars.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
