Coloring order

  1. Color the wide night sky in deep navy first, but leave the twinkling stars and the round moon the color of the paper.
  2. Color Abraham's cloak, his white beard and the tall walking staff in his hand with orange, cream and brown.
  3. Last, give the tent and campfire on the left, the camels walking far off on the right and the jar by his feet warm colors.

Questions to talk about

  • What is the look on Abraham's face as he gazes at the stars?
  • How would you feel if every star in the sky were part of your family?
  • Have you ever watched the stars or the moon? What did you see?

Take it further

In Genesis 15 Abraham is told to count the stars. Dot yellow crayon stars all over black paper, then count them together to see how many you made.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
