Ways to use this collection
Three summer scenes from June to August come in both Haewon and Jinwoo versions: a rainy hanok lane lined with hydrangeas, Jeju stone walls beside a summer sea, and a moonlit hanok veranda. Hydrangea blue and violet, sea teal and moonlight navy make this a good place to practice the whole blue family.
Activity ideas
- Shade each hydrangea cluster in slightly different blues, purples and pinks, and make it a rainy-day project by the window with the sound of rain.
- Layer the July Jeju sea from sky blue through teal to navy, and give the stone wall texture by alternating brown, gray and a touch of green instead of one gray.
- For the August moonlit veranda, set a deep navy base first and keep pale yellow and white only where moonlight lands, giving a mood different from daytime scenes.
Tip Blues can look alike, so decide the order from light to dark before you start; with 45 to 70 minutes per page, finishing over two sittings works well.
