Ways to use this collection
Three Korean winter scenes, each drawn with Haewon and Jinwoo: a snowy hanok courtyard in January, plum blossoms beside a traditional tea table in February, and snowy Seoul with its palace in December. Each scene has a line drawing, a full-color example, and a colored-pencil example, showing how snow shadows might be handled.
Activity ideas
- Print the snowy hanok courtyard once as Haewon and once as Jinwoo, color each with a different palette, and hang the two side by side to compare.
- Leave the white of the paper untouched on the snowy roofs and stone walls, and use deeper colors only on scarves and coats so the white space glows.
- Color the December, January, and February pages and hang them in a row like a winter calendar; for the plum-blossom page, talk about which warm drink would suit the scene.
Tip Allow forty minutes to an hour per page with colored pencils or water-based markers, and layer from light colors to dark so the snow looks soft.
