Ways to use this collection
Sylvarok the forest dragon, Floravie the cute flower dragon and Mirethorn the swamp dragon are three original dragons, each as a color reference and a line drawing, six pages in all. Leaves, vines, petals and muddy swamp textures take center stage, which makes the set well suited to practicing many steps of green and brown.
Activity ideas
- Look at classroom plant leaves or ones picked up in the park and give each green a name, then color Sylvarok in five different greens only.
- Floravie works well as a collage: tear small bits of colored paper and glue them on, mixing coloring and pasting to finish one page.
- Imagine the swamp where Mirethorn lives, draw a habitat map on paper, and tell how the forest, the flower garden and the swamp connect.
Tip Floravie, drawn in a cute style, is fine from about age 5, while the textured forest and swamp dragons suit ages 7 and up, at roughly 30 to 40 minutes each.
