Ways to use this collection
Eleven scenes from the Exodus and the Promised Land, now including Miriam dancing with her tambourine: Moses at the Red Sea, Miriam's song by the sea, Joshua at Jericho, Deborah the judge, Samson at the Gaza gate, and Gideon with his trumpets and torches. You can also meet the same person at different times, like baby Moses in the reed basket and Moses coming down from Mount Sinai.
Activity ideas
- After coloring Miriam's song by the sea, make up a class song with claps and small instruments, then sing it beside the Moses-at-the-Red-Sea page.
- Make a trumpet from a paper-towel tube and a torch from yellow paper to restage Gideon's scene, using no real fire.
- Beside the baby Moses basket page, with an adult nearby, float a light box in a basin and check which materials stay on the surface.
Tip The eleven scenes span different eras, so do one person per week; children ages 6 to 7 can read the story ahead of time and then color.
