Ways to use this collection
Ten scenes from the exile and return: Queen Esther's courage, Daniel in the lions' den, Jonah and the big fish, and Nehemiah rebuilding the wall. Some characters appear twice, like Daniel interpreting the king's dream in a Babylonian palace Jonah bringing news to the people of Nineveh and Jonah giving thanks on the shore, so children can meet one person in different scenes.
Activity ideas
- After coloring Jonah and the big fish, ask children to pick a face card (joy, fear, sorry) for how Jonah might have felt, and listen without a right answer.
- Beside the Daniel page, add speech bubbles for what Daniel may have been thinking, then have each family member share one moment that needed courage.
- Color Nehemiah rebuilding the wall, then stack boxes or blocks into a classroom wall together, passing bricks hand to hand as a team game.
Tip Since the same person appears in two scenes, pick Esther or Daniel and color both pages in order; adults should check the story in the text first.
