50 Free Dragon Coloring Pages

50 original dragons with their own names: lightning, volcano, shadow, sun, ice and sea dragons and more. They are sorted into fire and earth, water and ice, sky and wind, forest and flower, and light and dark, plus dragons in full scenes and easier versions. Every page comes as a pair: a color reference and line art to print.

Choosing by age

  • Ages 7+: start with the 10 easy dragons, which have 150 to 370 spaces.
  • Ages 8+: try the 20 elemental dragons. They have 75 to 350 spaces, so check the count on each page.
  • For a longer project: the 20 dragons in scenes have 210 to 560 spaces and take about 40 to 90 minutes. Spreading one over two days works well.

Space counts and times are rough estimates for each page.

Ways to use them

  • Write down each dragon’s name, home and special skill to make your own field guide.
  • Pick colors to suit fire, water or forest first, then compare them with the color reference.
  • Take turns adding a sentence to a story about the dragon you colored.

Questions

Can younger children color these?

The easy dragons and the elemental dragons with fewer spaces suit early elementary ages. Younger children can share the busier parts with an adult.

Are these characters from existing works?

No. They are original dragons with newly created names and designs.

Can I print these for free?

Yes. Print as many as you need at home and in schools, nurseries and classes. Selling or redistributing the files themselves is not allowed.
